Transgression

Unforgiving lights blinding her for what you’ve done
She expected her prom night to be fun
But you took the ribbon from her you stole everything she was
You gave her imperfection and another human
Move another bead on your rosary and shout another Hail Mary
You think it will save you from something
But it won’t change anything
It won’t erase what you’ve done
You will never be forgiven
She is looked at now as a whore
You’ll never know the size of the hole you bore
Why didn’t you listen she told you no
Why did you convince her to go?
You have a cunning way to deceive
At least sly enough to help her conceive
You move another bead on your rosary and shout another Hail Mary
You think it will save you from something
But it won’t change anything
It won’t erase what you’ve done
You will never be forgiven
One more one-night stand and you’re gone
You’ve shattered another picture-perfect world that’s been drawn
Her innocent naïveté
Was the open target of your cruelty
But you just move another bead on your rosary,
And shout another Hail Mary
You think it will save you from something
But it won’t change anything
It won’t erase what you’ve done
You will never be forgiven
You’ve shattered her hopes and her dreams
You’ve ripped open her heart’s seams
And lacerated a chunk out
And left her with fear and doubt
You stripped her of her pride
The flicker of her fire died
And just because you move another bead on your rosary
And shout another Hail Mary
You think it will save you from something
But it won’t change anything
It won’t erase what you’ve done
You will never be forgiven
Never be forgiven
